She has used the insurance proceeds on her home to buy another one and her husband has resumed his home improvement business, while she is no longer working. Katrina interview-Hermine

This is an interview with Hermine, a divorced mom of two who moved her children and parents from New Orleans to Baton Rouge. She was a teacher who was among the many teachers who were fired after Katrina. Her parents owned and lived in a hotel, which was destroyed by the hurricane. They had flood and hurricane insurance but neither carrier is accepting responsibility. Katrina Interview-Hermine.mp3

This is a telephone interview with Kathy, a retired school teacher who lived in St. Bernard Parish, one of the hardest hit areas around New Orleans. She was a homeowner who had just paid off her house before it was damaged by the floods. She now has another house about 30 miles away and is trying to figure out what to do with her home in St. Bernard Parish. She is too afraid to go back and does not trust anyone's representations. She feels we need to stop assigning blame and help those who still have not found loved ones or are in need of financial assistance. Katrina Interview-Kathy.mp3
